FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Construction on Sunset Magazine Tudor Revival Idea House Underway

(Redmond, Wash.) Sunset Magazine and Sherman Homes have started construction on the 2001 Tudor Revival Idea House located in Redmond, Washington. The Tudor Revival Idea House is the Northwest entry for Sunset's annual program to commission exceptional design and construction of innovative, single-family dwellings, complete with the latest in amenities and appliances. The Idea House reflects our region's lifestyle, tradition, climate and landscaping. The Idea House Team includes:

  • Designer William Gottlieb, of Plan One, a Seattle-based firm whose expertise ranges from affordable production housing to high-end custom homes that are both uniquely designed and practical and efficient to build.
  • Builder Sherman Homes, a family-owned company based in Bellevue that has been building award-winning homes in the Pacific Northwest for three generations, combining carefully selected home sites with outstanding home design.
  • Interior designer Steven J. Long of Markie Nelson Interior Design, a Seattle-based firm with numerous well-known commercial, resort and residential projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and nationally; and a design theme that reflects the Scandinavian heritage of the Puget Sound region.
  • Landscape architects Tom Berger and David Guthrie of the Berger Partnership in Seattle, who bring a broad base of knowledge about plant materials, optimum species and variety selections; and whose approach includes a philosophy of stewardship for natural resources.

The Tudor Revival Idea House will be built with the Northwest in mind. The house a "Tudor Revival with a Twist" combines traditional English Arts and Crafts-influenced architecture found in a number of Seattle neighborhoods in the 1910s and 1920s with modern treatments of space, light, and color.

The Idea House is located in the development of Claremont on the Park at 16203 NE 43rd Court in Redmond. It will open to the public beginning September 8 and will run through November 18, 2001.
